So, what do you actually do?
I manage all internal and external communication activities for VSA, a local social care charity. This might mean anything from responding to press enquiries, developing new campaigns, managing events, and keeping staff up to date. You never run out of challenges.

How did you get into it?
I started temping in the local health board marketing department and decided to develop my career in the communication field.

What kind of personality is best suited to working in a job like yours?
You should be positive, creative, happy and ambitious. You need to be willing to listen – and have the ability to cope with stress!

What’s been your biggest achievement in this job?
The successful implementation of our rebranding campaign. It was hard work - but certainly worth it.

Any top tips for someone wanting to get into this work?
Do it! Research as much about the field as you can, and visit local professionals in your area to see what a day in their life is like.
