Charities which invest in internal comms have an opportunity to take part in a global survey which evaluates the link between internal comms practices and organisational performance.
CharityComms and internal comms consultancy Harkness Kennett have teamed up with global professional services company Towers Watson to open up the latest study on communication effectiveness to UK charities.
By participating in Towers Watson's 2011 - 2012 Change and Communication ROI Study at
www.towerswatson.com/ccroi you will be able to demonstrate how internal comms provides value to your organisation. You'll also get early access to the findings and a free, customised report that will enable you to compare your responses to those of high-performing organisations. CharityComms also hopes to host an event following publication of the survey findings that will enable charities to benchmark their performance within the third sector.
Since 2003, over 1,100 companies with over 14 million employees have participated in the Towers Watson's biennial ROI studies. This research evaluates the link between internal communication practices and financial performance. By internal communication, we mean the practices your organisation uses to communicate with employees at all levels within your organisation. The 2009/10 survey included only 0.3% of responses from the charities and not-for-profit sector: through your support and involvement, CharityComms hopes to extend this so that we can provide a robust set of data for the UK third sector. At least 25 charities need to take part in the survey to give it statistical significance.
In the 2011 - 2012 Change and Communication ROI Study, Towers Watson will gather new insights from around the globe about social media, audience segmentation, the role of leaders and change management.
CharityComms director Vicky Browning said: "For years, corporate communicators have relied on this groundbreaking research to confirm the benefits of internal communication. I hope that with the help of charity comms professionals we can create a useful piece of research which will provide evidence for the value of internal comms to third sector organisations." You can
read the prior research.
Please note that as the survey has been largely aimed at the corporate sector in the past, some of the language may not resonate with charities, eg for “business” you will need to read "organisation", for "customers" think "beneficiaries", for "industry" read "sector" etc. You can skip questions that you feel unable to answer; you may need to enter a value eg xxx or 999 to move on from the finance question.
Visit
