There’s no doubt about it, 2020 was an extraordinary year. Full of uncertainty, challenges and change. But looking back, it’s wonderful to reflect on how amazing charities were in the face of so many challenges. We’ve seen first-hand how quickly charities moved and adapted to remote working. How they innovated their communications, fundraised virtually as well as pivoted to deliver services online.
As we enter 2021 we face many of the same challenges and barriers as last year though. So we want to know which are the biggest and the most pressing issues for you? And what opportunities do you see now and in the future?
In April 2020 we launched the Covid-19 Charity Communications Survey in partnership with Media Trust, to understand the main challenges that charities were facing and what support they might need. The results of the 2019 survey allowed CharityComms and Media Trust to tailor our training and online resources to the needs of the sector and particularly to those smaller charities with limited resources and budgets.
Here at CharityComms, we’ve been on an incredible journey during the pandemic. In the process of adapting and pivoting our training and other activity to a virtual format, we’ve learnt a huge amount and forged even closer ties with the charities we work with. We are particularly proud of using insights from the previous survey to tailor our rapid response in the early months of lockdown, when we arranged free webinars for thousands of charities looking to get up to speed quickly with digital comms, created brand new content to help people adjust to working from home and created an online community for members on Mighty Networks.

Fast forward almost a year later and we are keen to learn from charities about how things have changed since the start of lockdown, and what you see as major challenges, barriers, and opportunities for the future. That’s why we’ve partnered again with Media Trust to gather your feedback so we can once again ensure we’re meeting your needs in 2021.
