As the pandemic stretches ever onwards, campaigning has shifted to virtual to keep people connected, momentum going, and to try and cut through the noise. In this event, we’ll hear from a variety of organisations who have found success with campaigning virtually. And there will be time for some much needed peer-to-peer discussions too!

Lobbying in lockdown: Learning from The Time is Now Virtual Lobby

In the midst of lockdown, as green recovery decisions were starting to be made, The Climate Coalition and partners agreed to organise a virtual mass lobby, in which groups of constituents would meet with their MPs via zoom to call for a green recovery.

A virtual lobby at this scale was without precedent, and we had less than 6 weeks to plan and deliver the lobby. But thanks to heroic efforts from coalition organisations, 15,000 supporters signed up and more than 300 meetings with MP meetings took place. Fiona will be sharing how The Climate Coalition delivered the virtual lobby, and what they learned from it.

We’ll use breakout rooms for some much needed peer-to-peer chats on campaigning virtually. 

How to run a virtually perfect parliamentary reception

COVID has meant lots for campaigning in the charity sector. Advocacy has never been more needed, things have never moved faster. But we’ve had to think differently about traditional campaigning tools. How can we influence as effectively without meeting face-to-face? To tackle this, as part of Scope’s We Won’t Be Forgotten campaign, they held a virtual parliamentary reception in November 2020. Jess and Matt will talk you through planning and delivering a successful parliamentary reception online – and share their top learnings.

About the Campaign Network

The Campaign Network is a joint initiative from CharityComms and the Social Change Agency looking to address a gap for heads of campaigns and campaign leads in UK charities for strategic development, campaign sector development and professional development.

The Network will provide an opportunity for campaign peers to meet to discuss important issues at a strategic level, in order to raise the standard around campaigning. The format of the afternoon is a round-table discussion, led by our excellent facilitators, feeding into the group as a whole.
