When a crisis hits, will your words hold up?
This interactive online session was designed to help you craft crisis comms in a safe, supportive space.
About The Comms Practice Studio
The Comms Practice Studio is a place for charity communicators to actively engage and participate in comms practice together. You’ll be learning alongside your peers in the sector, and putting your new knowledge and expertise into practice.
This isn’t theory. It’s practice without the real-world pressure of a full-blown crisis situation while you’re trying to craft your comms in response to a crisis.
What you’ll do in the Studio:
- Draft holding statements that buy time without losing trust
- Shape press releases that balance speed with accuracy
- Prepare briefings for spokespeople that keep everyone on message
- Write internal comms that inform and reassure your teams
- Create social media posts that don’t feed the trolls
- Build FAQs and sticky questions with consistent, credible answers
What you’ll learn:
- How to ensure message consistency across audiences, channels, and formats
- How to monitor reactions and adjust comms in real time
How it works:
- Facilitated online workshop in a safe space
- Bring a brewing crisis from your own organisation, or choose one from our crisis scenario library, to work through during the session
- Practice writing in plain, accessible language that works across audiences, channels and formats
What you’ll leave with:
- A crisis comms playbook tailored to your context, ready to deploy if and when the crisis situation you brought along strikes
- Newly sharpened crisis comms skills so that you’re ready for whatever crisis situation comes your way next
- Confidence in your skills to craft crisis comms that hit the mark
- An accountability partner – we’ll follow up with you at regular intervals after we meet to see how you’re getting on with putting new and improved ways of working into practice.
