Struggling to make your charity newsletter feel engaging, useful, or capable of driving meaningful supporter action?
Many charity newsletters end up trapped in the same cycle: updates, campaigns, links, repeat.
But the best email communications don’t just share information, they build trust, confidence, connection and momentum over time.
About The Comms Practice Studio
The Comms Practice Studio is a place for charity communicators to actively engage and participate in comms practice together. You learnt alongside your peers in the sector, and put your new knowledge and expertise into practice.
What you did in the Studio:
- Explored what makes charity email content feel engaging and audience-first
- Learnt practical techniques to improve newsletter structure, flow and messaging
- Identified where newsletters often become repetitive, overwhelming or too organisation-led
- Rewrote and refined real email content during the session
- Gave and received constructive peer feedback in small breakout groups
- Left with practical ideas you can immediately apply to your own email comms
How it worked:
- Facilitated online workshop in a safe, supportive space
- Brought a real newsletter you’d like to improve
- Learnt practical frameworks and techniques throughout the session
- Took part in guided writing and reflection exercises
- Practised revising your emails with support from peers and facilitators
- Left with refreshed messaging, new ideas, and practical tools you can reuse again and again
What you’ll left with:
- A refreshed or reworked charity email/newsletter
- Practical frameworks for creating stronger marketing emails that increase income
- More confidence in writing audience-focused email content
- New ideas for improving engagement without constantly reinventing your comms
- Connections with fellow charity communicators facing similar challenges
- An accountability partner – we’ll follow up with you at regular intervals after we meet to see how you’re getting on with putting new and improved ways of working into practice.
