As part of our brand and website refresh, we’re creating a new digital home for CharityComms that better reflects who we are today and supports our community.
We did a full content audit to review our Knowledge Hub, based on initial work from freelancer Victoria Clarke. Now we’re moving onto content updates to streamline our new site and make the experience even better.
Here’s what you need to know
Why we audited our content
Over the last two decades, contributors have shared their knowledge, expertise and experiences with us, creating a rich library of resources. From on-demand events and blogs to templates, reports and best practice guides, every contribution has helped communicators solve challenges, develop their skills, and learn from one another.
As our Knowledge Hub has grown, some content has naturally become outdated, duplicated or less relevant over time. This audit has helped us pinpoint what we need to keep and where we need to update things to make sure our new website is easier to search.
What this means for your content
Every piece of content has been reviewed for performance, relevancy and accuracy to help us make fair, informed decisions. As a result, pieces have been grouped by whether it can be transferred as it is or whether it needs light updates, contributor input or to be redirected to a more relevant page.
During this process we have reviewed our content categories also to ensure we’re optimising the content for more searches.
What’s next
You don’t need to take any action at this stage. We’ll contact contributors if their input is required as we implement changes.
As we’re taking a phased approach, we’re unable to provide timescales for individual pieces. If we need your involvement, we’ll be in touch when your content is scheduled for review.
FAQs
What criteria was used to audit the content?
We reviewed content using key performance data (including pageviews, users, rankings, and citations over a one-year period) alongside input from our team and search consultants. Each piece was assessed for accuracy, current relevance, and search intent to ensure our Knowledge Hub delivers maximum value.
How will edits, updates, and author input be handled?
Our team may make minor edits—such as fixing broken links, updating formatting, changing outdated references or improving accessibility—without contacting original authors. Where we need your input, we will contact you. This process helps our small team manage this process effectively while limiting the asks placed on individuals.
What happens if my content is redirected or removed?
To keep our site clear and up to date, content may be redirected to more relevant resources. We also welcome pitches for new pieces that reflect current thinking or fresher comms examples.
How will my author credit, profile and links be affected?
Author profiles and links will stay live for anyone with active content or speaker contributions. Any empty bios will be removed. You can request bio updates or removal at anytime. Where URLs change, we are setting up redirects so existing links continue to land on relevant pages.
