Reporting to:
Head of policy and external relations
Role purpose:
To take forward and implement the charity’s public affairs and parliamentary activities, and coordinate involvement activities with our stakeholders; identifying opportunities to influence policy development, legislation and service provision in line with agreed objectives
Key responsibilities:
- Working alongside relevant policy staff, proactively identify opportunities to influence party political debates, legislation and select committees in relation to our work
- Ensure a coordinated approach to our parliamentary work at Westminster and locally
- Support submissions to parliamentary inquiries (e.g. Select Committees)
- Draft correspondence and briefings for parliamentarians
- Ensure the views of our stakeholders are fully reflected in the charity’s parliamentary activity
- Work alongside the Head of Policy and Service Improvement to implement an agreed political contacts programme
- Update the charity’s parliamentary database
- Identify and develop effective links with key parliamentarians, influencers and decision makers whose remit may impact the sphere of our work, including, senior civil servants etc
- Contribute positively to the Directorate and team meetings, team working and implementing organisational priorities
- Ensure the involvement of our audiences and stakeholders at all stage of policy and campaigns planning, research and implementation
