Engaging your entire workforce with internal comms is a key part of any staff engagement plan. But how do you ensure that you’re reaching every staff member or volunteer, even if they’re not working in a traditional office setting?
You joined us for this fascinating session where we explored this question together and more!

Cutting through the noise: reaching people across your organisation Around 4,000 dedicated colleagues work at Cancer Research UK – whether that’s working from their own homes, out in their local communities or in Cancer Research UK’s offices, labs, shops, warehouses or distribution centres. How do you cut through the noise and make sure that meaningful organisational messages reach such broad and dispersed audiences, many of whom aren’t desk-based? In this presentation, you’ll hear about the importance of understanding your audiences, collaboration and prioritisation in helping internal communicators to drive change in an organisation – bringing everyone, regardless of their working environment or individual role, on an organisation’s journey to make a positive difference. Internal comms isn’t just a megaphone: how listening to your staff can be your most powerful engagement tool Internal comms are key for every organisation, whether they’re a charity or a business. But it can be easy for internal comms to just be a megaphone, rather than a listening tool. What if you could reach more people by listening to them rather than just talking at them? In this presentation, we’ll hear from Shetal Joshi who leads on internal comms and employee engagement in the private sector at Ørsted UK. Shetal describes herself as a leader who ignites energy into employee engagement and sparks connection through internal communications. Shetal leads a team of internal comms and engagement professionals, and together they’ve embarked on a series of successful ‘listening tours’ with staff across their operations functions. Shetal will tell us how the concept of ‘listening tours’ developed, how they got buy-in and resources for the tours, and how it’s helping their organisation connect with the different staff audiences they’ve identified. Shetal will also share how they’re measuring the success of this internal comms work. Shetal Joshi | |
