Media manager
Role purpose:
To develop our reputation as a leader in our field and attract new service users and volunteers. To use the media to further our aims and increase our profile by generating regular, high-profile coverage for the charity, and to support our campaigns via use of the media. To manage the website content and develop the charity’s online profile.
Key responsibilities:
Press
- Working with all members of the staff team to identify media opportunities
- Devising media strategies for specific campaigns and fundraising drives to appeal to target audiences
- Actively selling stories to the media
- Drafting and distributing press notices, media comments, features and letters to editors, often to tight deadlines
- Harnessing the news agenda and marketing broader knowledge and expertise to contribute to existing stories
- Identifying key media contacts and building and maintaining relationships
- Receiving and managing press enquiries and ensuring that the out-of-hours press phone is manned
- Evaluating and reporting back on media campaigns
Digital
- Setting up media interviews with representatives and clients and supporting staff and clients with their media work
- Managing website content
- Managing external contractors with responsibility for designing and developing the website and for producing photography and video footage for the site
- Monitoring media coverage and online profile and reporting on performance
Other
- Carrying out any other duties commensurate with the general level of responsibility of the post
- Working with colleagues to ensure the smooth and effective running of the charity
- Promoting and implement equal opportunities policy in all aspects of work
