The digital age: digital leadership to pave the way for culture change
These events are for heads of digital as we will be discussing strategic issues
Digital is everything. It can save us time and money, increase donations and grow our impact. To stay relevant our charities must embark on a journey to digital maturity.
Digital leadership is arguably the most essential component for driving digital transformation. Charity leaders, from trustees and CEOs to senior management teams, must be brave, bold, open to change and enthusiastic about taking risks. They must be forward-thinking, understand how digital can help the charity achieve its goals and not be afraid to make changes to achieve this.
At this Heads of Digital meeting, we’ll be exploring what makes a great digital leader, the barriers to digital maturity, and how we can educate and empower our charity leaders to pave the way for culture change in the digital age.
Kicking off the event, Zoe Amar will share her unique insights on what makes a great digital leader, drawing on her work developing the sector’s first digital code of practice and her experience of running the Third Sector Digital Leadership training.
This will be followed by facilitator-led group discussions, considering the following questions:
- What does effective digital leadership look like?
- What are the barriers to digital maturity? How can we get around them?
- How can we get digital buy-in from our CEOs and SMT?
- How can we develop our CEOs and SMTs’ knowledge and understanding of digital?
- How can we ensure digital is at the centre of strategy and leadership?
- How can we encourage our leaders to be brave and create a culture of risk taking?

About the Heads of Digital
This networking group is exclusively for heads of digital working in UK charities and not-for-profits with a turnover of more than £2 million.
The format of the evening is networking followed by round-table discussion, led by our excellent facilitators, feeding into the group as a whole.
The group meets three times a year to discuss strategic issues facing digital leads at large charities. The group is designed to encourage networking and peer-to-peer support, sharing issues in a ‘safe’ and relaxed environment.
